Mounjaro FAQs
Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a once‑weekly injectable medication used to support weight management. It works by activating both GLP‑1 and GIP receptors — hormones naturally produced in the gut that help regulate appetite, fullness, and blood sugar. When combined with healthy lifestyle changes, Mounjaro can support meaningful and sustainable weight loss.
Mounjaro is supplied as a pre‑filled, single‑dose injection pen designed for simple, once‑weekly use.You can inject into the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, at any time of day, with or without food. Using it on the same day each week helps maintain consistent treatment levels.Your first treatment includes clear instructions, and our team are available to guide you through the process and answer any questions.
Mounjaro may be suitable for adults who meet clinical criteria for weight‑management treatment. Eligibility is based on BMI, previous treatment history, and any weight‑related health conditions. All prescriptions are assessed by our clinicians to ensure safe and appropriate use.
Everyone responds differently to treatment. For new patients, you’ll begin with a low starting dose (2.5mg once weekly) to allow your body to adjust. Dose increases are gradual and based on how you’re feeling, how well you’re tolerating treatment, and your progress over time. Some people achieve excellent results at lower doses, while others may benefit from stepping up. Our clinicians will review your progress regularly to ensure your treatment remains safe, comfortable, and effective. If its appropriate to increase your dose, we may recommend this - however you will never be forced to increase - this will always be your choice.
Mounjaro is a prescription‑only treatment shown to support significant weight loss when used as directed. In a 72‑week clinical study (SURMOUNT‑1), adults taking tirzepatide 15 mg achieved an average weight reduction of 22.5% of their body weight.Individual results vary, and progress can look different for each person — some notice early changes in appetite or reduced food noise, while others see gradual improvements over time. Our focus is on helping you find a sustainable approach that fits your health needs and long‑term goals.
Your first order includes one pen containing four weekly doses (28 days of treatment).Mounjaro should be stored in the refrigerator between 2–8°C. You’ll also receive:A sharps binFour needles (one per injection)Skin‑cleaning swabsAn instruction leaflet
Each follow‑up order will contain the pen strength appropriate for your next stage of treatment.
After starting treatment, you may choose to increase your dose gradually or remain at a level that feels comfortable. Dose changes are reviewed by our team to ensure they are safe and appropriate. Some people later reduce their dose to maintain results or manage side effects — this is also assessed on an individual basis.
You’ll receive a sharps bin with your first order. After each injection, place the used needle into the sharps bin.Once all four doses have been used and the needle removed, the pen itself can be disposed of in household waste or placed in the sharps bin. When your sharps bin is full, it can be collected by your local council or exchanged at participating pharmacies.
Mounjaro will arrive via a cold chain delivery, and we reccomend that you store the medication in the refrigerator. It can however remain unrefrigerated for up to 30 days, but we recommend returning it to the fridge after each use to maintain stability.
